We processed our first lot of chickens today, including the meat chickens and the large Australorp rooster. I spent a lot of time watching youtube videos to figure out how to pluck and clean them, luckily I was able to hand the dispatching duties off to G, not sure I could actually manage to do that part.
One of the important aspects of self-sufficiency and raising our own food is to make sure that everything possible can be used, recycled, re-purposed etc. When it comes to livestock, our dogs are raw fed so there is very little waste.
The dogs thoroughly enjoyed the chicken feet, although I did make sure to cut off the toenails first.
