I have been lucky enough to see the Southern Lights (Aurora Australis) from our front verandah on several occasions, but have never had the chance to photograph it before.
But on December 1st, the aurora was nothing short of spectacular, even to the naked eye we could see colour and beams. Never having shot aurora photos before, I had no clue what I was doing and had to wing it in the dark with my R5. The images on the back of the screen were spectacular, but I was disappointed when I got them on my computer and realised most were slightly blurry, mostly due to me using a light weight dodgy tripod because my good one was over in the studio.
Lesson learned and I think I now have the settings needed sorted and can’t wait for the next chance to photograph the aurora from literally right outside my front door 🙂
